Genevieve Grotjan

Born: 1913

Genevieve Grotjan was born in Buffalo in 1913 and graduated from UB with a BA in mathematics in 1936. Grotjan worked as a codebreaker for the United States government and is most famous for deciphering coded messages from enemy forces during World War II - most notably the Japanese cipher known as Code Purple.
