Joseph Tufariello

Joseph J. Tufariello was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1935.  He received a B.S. in chemistry (1957) from Queens College in New York City and a Ph.D. in organic chemistry (1961) from University of Wisconsin, Madison.  Tufariello joined the faculty of the University at Buffalo Department of Chemistry in 1963.  He was promoted to associate professor in 1968 and full professor in 1980.  He served as the chair of the Department of Chemistry from 1984-1991.  In 1991 Tufariello was named interim dean of the UB Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and became dean in 1992.
