Alfred D. Price

Alfred D. Price Jr. was born in Buffalo, NY in 1947 and was an honor student at Bennett High School.  He earned a B.A. in sociology (1969) from Princeton University and in 1975 became the first African American student to receive a Master of Architecture and Urban Planning (1975) from that university.

Alfred D. Price Jr. joined the faculty of the University at Buffalo School of Architecture and Planning in 1977 as an assistant professor.  In 1982, he was promoted to associate professor.  During his 42-year career in the School of Architecture and Planning, Price served as assistant dean (1977-1980), acting dean (1980-1981) and associate dean (1980-1984) of the school.  He also served as chair of the Department of Planning.  Price received the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2000.
