Robert L. Palmer Jr.

Robert L. Palmer joined the staff of the University at Buffalo in 1972 as a counselor in the Educational Opportunity Program.  He was promoted to chief counselor in 1973 and then assistant director of the program in 1974.  From 1975-1982, Palmer served as the assistant to the vice president for student affairs, focusing on the attrition/retention of minority and disadvantaged students.  In 1982, as associate provost, he administered university programs related to minority and disadvantaged students and coordinated interaction between the Office of the Provost, the Office of the President and the offices of the university's deans and directors for minority and disadvantaged student matters.  Palmer became vice president for student affairs in 1987 and served in this position until he left UB in 1997.
