Jack Lippes

Jack Lippes was born in Buffalo in 1924. He enrolled at the University of Buffalo in 1942 and earned an M.D. in 1947. In 1952, he returned to UB as a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, and later became an associate professor (1966) and full professor (1975) in the department. Lippes retired from UB in 1999.
In 1959, Jack Lippes invented the Lippes Loop, which has been hailed as a revolutionary interuterine contraceptive device.
