Warren T.D. Barbour was a faculty member of UB's Department of Anthropology and Archaeology from 1970-2017. Barbour received his bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and his master's degree and Ph.D. from the University of Rochester. He was the first African American to receive a doctorate in archaeology in the United States. Barbour was a specialist in Meso-American archaeology. While at UB he established a lab for the study fingerprints left on ancient figurines by their creators. Barbour also co-founded the Marian E. White Research Museum of Archaeology.
