Abstract: Two scrapbooks of speeches, 1905-07 (incomplete), with a few items up to 1920. Norton was Vice Chancellor of the University of Buffalo from 1905-1909, and Chancellor from 1909-1920. The main topic of the speeches, correspondence, and clippings in this collection is the “University Extension” movement of which he was the chief spokesperson during this period.
Also includes a speech on “The College Idea,” circa 1909-1910, and a photocopy of a letter from Norton to Stanford University President David Starr Jordon, February 8, 1910, about the development of the University of Buffalo.
