Martin (Darwin D.) family papers, circa 1878-1935

Papers, circa 1878-1935, of Darwin D. Martin (1865-1935) of Buffalo, New York, an official of the Larkin Company and an early client of Frank Lloyd Wright. Includes diaries, memorandum books, business and family correspondence, genealogical material and other items concerning Darwin D. Martin, his wife Isabelle Reidpath Martin, and their children Dorothy and Darwin R. Martin. Also included are letters to Martin from his brother William E. Martin of Chicago, 1902-1910, letters to Martin from Elbert Hubbard of the Roycroft Shop, East Aurora, New York, 1893-1912, and letters to Martin from Booker T. Washington, 1901-1915. Some of the correspondence between William E. and Darwin D. Martin concerns the activities of Frank Lloyd Wright. Also included are various memoranda concerning the Darwin D. Martin House designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and a typescript draft of "Romeo and Juliet", 1929(?), which was later incorporated into Frank Lloyd Wright's Autobiography (1932). The bulk of the correspondence between Darwin D. Martin and Frank Lloyd Wright, including additional letters of Darwin D. to William E. Martin, is included in the related "Frank Lloyd Wright Darwin D. Martin Papers" (MS 22.8) available at the University Archives of the State University of New York at Buffalo and in the Special Collections at Stanford University. The University Archives also has architectural plans, contractor's correspondence and photographs of the Darwin D. Martin House and related structures (MS 22).

Milbrath (Lester W.) Environmental Issues Papers, 1971-1990

Most of lecture notes were collected when Miles was a graduate student at University of Chicago Lectures notes are from classes taught by Oskar Bolza, Gilbert A. Milton Plesur Memorial Community Library iconography

Metal and glass panels, designed and executed ca. 1989 by Shirley Rosenthal, from the former Milton Plesur Memorial Community Library at the Jewish Community Center in Getzville, NY. All panels measure 24” high by 18.” Also included is hand printed poster “Jude” (“Jew”) with patch attached, which was on display at the library.

Moody (Kevin) Pan American Exposition collection, circa 1901

Items collected by Kevin Moody, belonging to his great-grandmother, wife of F.A. Lopez, a member of the Commission from Ecuador at the Pan American Exposition.  Includes exposition map (color); postcards; pass; ticket books with a photo of Mrs. Lopez; an invitation to the opening of the Ecuador exhibit; and 2 typewritten letters (one undated of a personal nature and one died January 11, 1902, regarding the sale of the Ecuador pavilion building and return of exhibit artifacts.

Mothers' Club of Buffalo Collection, 1904-1912, 1956

The Mothers' Club of Buffalo, affiliated with the Mother's Assembly of the State of New York, was a local women's group dedicated to educating parents about issues relating to the home and school. The collection includes annual programs listing upcoming meetings, officers, and current members from 1904-1910. It also includes programs from the 1912 New York State Mothers Assembly held in Rochester, N.Y.
