Jackson (Bruce) Campus Revolt Collection, 1969-1970

Documents, minutes, reports, newspapers, student papers on press coverage and community response to the University of Buffalo campus unrest in 1969 and 1970. Also includes, "UB Disorders"- audio tapes, March-April 1970. Audio tape portrayal of the administrative and student unrest at the University of Buffalo (March-April 1970). Including television news broadcasts and interviews, WBFO radio reports, student interviews with administration, faculty senate meetings and strike convocation. The bulk of the taped material addresses the ROTC issue; acting president, Peter Regan; police on campus, and the Faculty 45. Professor Jackson compiled the tapes and makes brief commentaries throughout several of the live sessions.

Jackson (Bruce) Papers, 1964-1971

Papers of Bruce Jackson, Samuel P. Capen Professor of American Culture and State University of New York Distinguished Professor of English. Included are manuscripts, working copies, drafts, notes, related correspondence, and tape transcripts for three of Jackson's published works: The Negro and His Folklore, Thief's Primer, In the Life; Versions of the Criminal Experience, and Wake Up Dead Man: Hard Labor and Southern Blues.

Jay (David G.) Papers, circa 1970-1989

The David G. Jay papers, 1972-1995, consist of files maintained by Richard F. Griffin and David G. Jay, attorneys for the plaintiffs in the Buffalo School desegregation case, from 1972 through 1995. The files include papers submitted to the court, orders of the court, hearing exhibits, transcripts of hearings and depositions, plaintiffs' notes and analyses of Board data and proposals, plaintiffs' correspondence, Board of Education proposals, reports and data, and press clippings. Related materials are located in the Citizens Council for Human Relations, Inc. (CCHR) files and the files of the Citizens Commission on School Desegregation housed in the University Archives, permanent records filed in federal court, records maintained by the Buffalo Branch of the NAACP, and records maintained by the other parties to the suit.

Jessel (Paul) drawings for the 1964 Buffalonian, 1964

Collection includes four black-and-white drawings of University at Buffalo dormitories, created by Paul Jessel, and used in the 1964 Buffalonian yearbook. The drawings are on cardstock, and the artist's name "Jessel" is indicated on three of four drawings. The drawings depict the exteriors of four dormitories and campus housing buildings—then known as Cooke, Schoellkopf, Michael, and Allenhurst. The drawings are featured in the 1964 Buffalonian onpages 306, 310, 312, and 320, respectively.

Jewish Community Center of Greater Buffalo and Summer Camps Records, 1915-2009

The collection of Jewish Community Center (JCC) of Greater Buffalo and Summer Camps Records contains a wide range of material, dominated by photographs and program-related materials for the JCC, Camp Lakeland and Camp Centerland. Also, contains correspondence, reports, publications, newsletters, and handwritten documents. An additional three other collections are included: annual Jewish community book fair records; Jewish Film Festival and Jewish Repertory Theatre records.

Jones (Grace Keller) Papers, circa 1949-1968

Papers consist of drafts, working copies, and published editions of two chemistry manuals for nursing students written by Grace Keller Jones. The first manual, Chemistry Experiments for Nursing Students was written for use in course Nursing 121-122 (Chemistry), a course taught by Jones at the University of Buffalo. The second manual, Experimental Chemistry for Student Nurses was written for use as a chemistry laboratory manual for student nurses. Also included is correspondence between Jones and her publisher and lithographer for her first publication.
